Discovery Bay Pier, located in the picturesque coastal area of Discovery Bay, is a popular destination for residents and visitors alike. During the Central and Wan Chai Reclamation Project phase I in 1995, Central Pier 3 was built as a new location to accommodate ferry services to Discovery Bay. The pier provided a convenient connection for residents and visitors traveling to and from Discovery Bay for over 28 years. On the other end, Discovery Bay Pier was first built in 1983 to serve the booming residential development in Discovery Bay. However, as time passed and the needs of the community evolved, both Central Pier 3 and Discovery Bay Pier have become outdated and in need of revitalization

The revitalization of Discovery Bay Pier aims to create a unique and dynamic space that reflects the essence of Discovery Bay while integrating it with the urban fabric of Hong Kong. Through transforming both piers into a vibrant and thriving hub that encompasses green spaces, commercial activities, recreational opportunities, and a "Gateway to Discovery Bay" located in Hong Kong City Centre. Bridging the slow-paced, natural-loving lifestyle of Discovery Bay with the bustling and vibrant energy of the city, the revitalized pier will serve as a seamless connection between these two distinct worlds

The introduction of the "Grand Chamber" in Discovery Bay Pier refocused the original waiting area into a skylight-lit chamber, enclosed with a ventilation wall panel with a floating light feature and a green island bench. The "Long Chamber" created a double-height waiting area with 180-degree views of the surrounding scenery with lush greenery as the foreground, providing a serene and relaxing experience for passengers.
